Spend four days and three nights in the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve – one of the best places in the world for astrophotography.
With one a private guide for one night you’ll learn how to make the most of your DSLR camera for astrophotos, with training on composition and a day time session on post-processing.
You’ll be driven and guided to the best spots in the Dark Sky Reserve, including a trip to Aoraki Mt Cook National Park (weather permitting).
Suitable for amateur to experienced photographers.

Gear requirements
Please bring a solid tripod, DSLR camera with a wide-angle lens, lap top computer, and very warm clothing and boots. Some gear is available to hire if required.
FAQ
Q: What is the best time to book?
A: Winter when the moon is new (check our Lakestone Lodge Night Sky Experience as a guide on when to visit).
Q: What if the weather is overcast and we can't see/photograph the Milky Way?
A: We always schedule the guide on the first night, if the guide is available the following night or the night after we will postpone until then. The guide will still take you on an adventure to other stunning night and day photo opportunities and you will still be able to complete the post processing workshop. If you can not photograph the Milky Way due to weather over the 3 nights we would offer a 25% discount on a return Astro Photography booking or 10% discount of your current booking.
